Working from ‘The Vennel’, his home studio in South Queensferry, Scotland, composer and producer Ben Chatwin creates a musical language permeated with an ambiguity, or tension, between the electronic and acoustic worlds. Dark and daring expressionism is the central current running throughout his output, which stretches over ten albums to date (seven under his earlier Talvihorros alias).

With an ability to conjure exhilarating sonic environments, Ben’s work speaks of the inherent duality of existence; between chaos and beauty, and his recent collaborations with the Scottish National Ballet and also cellist Pete Harvey at London’s Southbank Centre have seen him venture into more interdisciplinary collaboration.

With his next album due for release in late 2020, Ben is about to step into a new phase in his practice - extracting raw emotion from the very margins of sound, the record’s genesis lay in the discovery of ghost frequencies found in his studioequipment. Entitled simply 'The Hum'.
